SIOR Broker Certification – What You Should Know About It

An SIOR designation indicates a business or commercial real estate agent at the very top of the business field with exceptional expertise that puts them at the head of the pack. While the SIOR classification is recognized internationally as an emblem of excellent real estate expertise, it actually originated as a patriotic American initiative. It was first awarded to the New York City area in the United States in 1883, but it wasn’t until after the Second World War did the designation really begin to take hold and make its mark on the realty business world.

If you‘re currently an SIOR designated realtor or interested in becoming one, there are many things you should know about the designation. First, if you are currently licensed as a licensed SIOR broker, your license is valid for three years in any one state. This means that even though you may work as an SIOR broker in two different states, your license will still be valid in the state in which you actually do business. The last thing you want is to get caught up in some sort of legal dispute over the SIOR designation.

If you are interested in becoming a SIOR broker but are not licensed yet, you will find that you need to meet some stringent requirements in order to obtain the designation. In order to qualify, you will have to have successfully completed either the BKQ (Building K&L Real Estate) Exam or the BKQM (Building K&L Marketing and Sales) Exam. For most SIOR brokers, this is the minimum requirement to receive a license, and you must pass both exams in order to be certified and licensed.

While an SIOR license is certainly a high honor, there are certain types of people who can get by with a non-SIOR license. These include those who are self-employed and only conduct their own business from home. There is also a special program designed just for new SIOR licensed agents, called the Certified New Agent (CNA) Program. It allows individuals who don’t have a BKQ or BKQM but have passed their BKQ or BKQM exam, to obtain a license without a realtor exam. designation by passing their CNA exam.

You must also be at least eighteen years old before you can apply to become a SIOR broker. in any state, and can only apply once you have completed the minimum licensing requirements for your particular state. If you have other licenses, you won’t be able to get a SIOR broker license in any state.

The next requirement to being a SIOR is to pass the exam. The exam is no different than the BKQ or BKQM exam you took in order to receive your current license; however, the exam is more difficult than the two tests combined. You’ll have to complete both sections of the exam in order to pass the exam. After you pass the exam, you’ll have to sit the SIOR examination and pass both the written portion and the practical portion in order to become a licensed SIOR broker.

The last but not least important qualification to becoming an SIOR is having a bachelor’s degree, in real estate or related, from an accredited college or university. An online college is the preferred method of learning because of the flexibility it provides you with the flexibility to attend classes whenever you wish. Even though there are no physical exams, all the information you need is provided through a web-based class.

It should go without saying that there is no easy road to become an SIOR. but with the right guidance and the right training and experience you can attain a SIOR designation without much trouble.
